Engaging Online Learners

  1. Kanelia,

I loved your video! The use of a lullaby for your background music was so funny. I chuckled at the entry slides and the very bored/tired learners. You clearly covered the topic and offered practical solutions and suggestions for instructors. I was not aware of the issue of attrition in online learning, but that certainly illustrates the need for instructor action. The only comment I might have for a change would be to slow down on the slides that the viewer has to read. Maybe it is just me, but I had trouble reading all the material before it was moving on to the next slide. Maybe I read too slowly!

    1. Thank you Jeriann. I know it was slide in particular that I needed to slow down but I was already over the 5-6 time limit and I didn't want to make it any longer.

  2. This is a creative work. I liked the first image. It is undeniably captivating with the guy dozing. The remaining pictures also depict what happens to learners in the classroom when they are bored or tired. You were able to highlight the need for engaging online learners. The use of video is a good resource for creating engaging online learning experiences. Thanks for sharing the resource tool (www.keep-tube.com) during our Skype voice conference.

  5. Kanelia,
I would give you an A plus to your video if I was the instructor of this course. What a great, creative, and unique introduction. You really grabbed my attention from beginning to end and that is a hard task. Keeping the online learner engaged is a great topic since online learners need to be really intrisic motivated in order to succeed. Thank you for the given tips while we talked via skype a week ago. Keep the good work and
you might have a future creating video presentations. Great video!
    Sincerely,
    Diana Absatz
